I am finally done! :)
As summer comes to an end (school here starts in late August) I have been very busy brainstorming for the upcoming year with my Littlest Diva. The Oldest Diva will be included in some of the fun but she officially starts Kindergarten and will be in school all day. I will of course continue to share our reading/phonics and sight word focus with you but the major focus of my planning has been specifically geared for my preschooler who is 4.
Our themes all begin with the books we read & discuss together while incorporating:
- letters and basic letter sounds
- beginning reading & sight word fun
- writing and fine motor skills development
- math basics such as number recognition, number sense, early addition/subtraction, days of the week & intro to telling time
- science and hands-on experiments and/or observation where possible
- cooking and/or theme related snacks
- lots & lots of arts & crafts
- Family Night Fun
*As an addition this year I will be incorporating some basic Spanish into our themes. Both Lil Divas have expressed a great deal of interest in learning to speak Spanish & I am so excited to help them learn!*
Our last few weeks of Summer Themes will include:
Water Fun

Wow- looks like you have a busy year planned! SO much fun and great learning experiences- can't wait to see them all!
ReplyDeleteWow-what a great list.
ReplyDeleteYou are such an amazing mommy/teacher : )
ReplyDeleteI always start off with a lesson plan and get derailed....
However, I make sure these kiddos are always learning. They have school work and home work, so they are always learning. My three year old is excited for Mommy School all by himself. (both girls are going to school this year )
My kiddos are learning spanish too--found a great app on the iPad to help out. Everyone assumes we speak spanish... guess we need to work on that.
Best Wishes-

Love your plans for the following year. Will be following closely! If we lived closer, I would love to work with you and teach our girls together...
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to meet up and catch up - hear all about your summer.
xoxo
What a great teacher..and Mommy! This plan looks fun. Although my oldest is registered and all ready for Kindergarten to start, my little one is left behind. I could definitely start thinking of a plan myself. I just spoke to the school district today and they informed me that in CA, the Kindergarten push back date is Nov2nd. This means my little one will be an extra late bird for Kindergarten. 2012-2013 school year. I'm so bummed.
ReplyDeleteI surely hope you'll stick to plan cause I'll spy on you and use your ideas! With baby coming mid October I'll have much less time to prepare everything and work with little girl so... I'll be around here for links and inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous! I will be teaching preschool to my 4 year old this year, and I will definitely be stopping by to see what fun things you have done with your girls for inspiration!!! Thanks for this! I'm thrilled to have you sharing at For the Kids Fridays each week. I didn't realize you hosted a link party too! I'm adding it to my linky list!
