Halloween Fun: Spooky Homemade Black Sparkly Play Dough Creations

This weekend we had some Halloween themed play dough fun!

We whipped up a batch of black sparkly play dough
(courtesy of Anna from Imagination Tree's recipe)
- we did it minus the glycerin (I had none)
and I ran a bit shy of salt but it still came out great.
Nice soft play dough & the girls were able to help
except for the boiling water parts.

The Oldest Diva really had a good time with this.
She wanted to make some spiders and bats
since we've been studying those.

Of course we couldn't resist making spooky creatures.

Here's her skeleton head:

a peek at all her creations:

The witch was my personal favorite -
she has a wart on her nose and all!

Here's a peek at the Littlest Diva's creations -
she was trying hard to copy her big sis versus just doing her own thing.
We've been getting that a lot lately :(
I am working w/her on it & encouraging her to do what she likes
versus following others. It's been an issue at school too.

Of course wiggly eyes have their own enticing appeal.
They just beg to be played with so the Lil Divas happily obliged!

FUNNY!

I must say ever since we've been making our own play dough -
I am completely addicted!
It's so easy and I love that we can add our own colors, scents, etc...

I added a bit of vanilla to this batch and it smells fabulous!

Next: Pumpkin Spice Play Dough
I can hardly wait -
I LOVE the scent of pumpkin!

What are your favorite scents to use with homemade play dough?

  2. All of their creations turned out fabulous! I love the witch's nose!

I am hooked on homemade play dough now. I doubt that I ever buy playdoh again. I like that you can customize it, but I also like the texture better than store bought.

Pumpkin playdough is amazing. R still asks to play with his nearly every day. I have controlled the urge to carry it around with me, sniffing it randomly throughout the day, though.
