Educational Insights has some great learning games! We have had the wonderful opportunity to review quite a few of them & are never disappointed. I am big on learning being fun and when kids play these types of educational games - they have fun and don't even realize how much they are learning. Sneaky! Today, I am excited to share another great learning game from the creative minds at Educational Insights -
What's in the trunk?
My girls loved the cute trunk the game comes in. It is decorated to look like a mini memory trunk. Inside the trunk are the game playing cards - 26 alphabet picture cards and 26 riddle cards, plus a guide.
About the game:
This little trunk packs 5 games in 1 for lots of play opportunities for different ages and levels.
You can play -
1. What Comes Next - work to place the alphabet cards in the trunk in ABC order.
2. Memory Time - this one gets challenging & fun! Repeat the sequence of cards in the trunk and add your own. Next player has to repeat sequence of cards, the previous player's and add their own & so forth. This is a great memory builder activity and helps kids focus on details.
3. Grandma's Riddles - This one was the Lil Diva's favorite! Deal all the alphabet cards, read a riddle and race to see who has the matching card.
4. Letter Sequence Memory - works like Memory Time except you put the cards into the trunk in ABC order.
5. Grandma's Adventures - Put letter cards into trunk and take turns pulling out a card and using it to tell a cooperative story. This was another favorite - it got very silly and produced tons of giggles! Very imaginative and creative game
Our Thoughts:
The Lil Divas really enjoyed this game. Their 2 favorite games to play were Grandma's Riddles and Grandma's Adventures.
I love that this is something they could play together. The Oldest Diva read the riddles (she is new to reading & wants to read everything!) and the Littlest Diva had fun finding the answers.
We all enjoyed working together to make up a story for Grandma's Adventures. It got pretty laugh out loud funny! It's a great game to encourage creativity and the use of imagination.

I have toddlers at my house everyday (1, 2, and 3 years old) so I think the first game, "What Comes Next," would be best for them right now. However, i am a former preschool and kindergarten teacher, so just looking at the pictures of the materials that come with eh set gave me a few other ideas.

ReplyDelete"What Comes Next" sounds like an excellent game to play with the Pre-K children I take care of at Discovery Point. I think my kindergartners would enjoy "Grandma's Adventures". They love making up stories, and the sillier, the better!

What a cute game. My 4 year old could benefit from the "What Comes Next" right now. He recognizes his letters and can sing them in order, but needs some practice on visually putting them in the correct sequence.
