Enjoying Mother's Day with a #SocialBlackout

As a blogger, I am definitely into social media. It is a "must" for me but there are times when I feel like I spend too much time "plugged" in. I am often guilty of being behind the camera, snapping pictures and sharing moments on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter versus soaking in the moment first-hand. So when through my partnership with Mom Central I received a promotional item and was given the opportunity to spread the word about Metlife's #SocialBlackout movement, I was instantly intrigued but more than that I felt like it was something I had to do. I owe it to myself and my family to fully enjoy all those special little moments they have planned for me on Mother's Day. Don't you?

Join me as I "unplug" for the day, step out from under my laptop, put down my phone, get out from behind the camera and just enjoy every moment as it occurs. Whether you are staying home, visiting family or spending the day out on the town - enjoy it. All those social media sites will be there waiting for you on May 13th - I promise.

So how can you join in on Metlife's #SocialBlackout this Mother's Day?

It's easy -
1. Join the #SocialBlackout event page.
2. Invite friends & family to join in with you too. Imagine a day free of phones, laptops, iPods, iPads, computers and other devices. It almost sounds like an impossible dream, doesn't it? Well, how about we make it reality!

How?

You must take the MOST IMPORTANT step of all:
3. LOG OFF social media on Mother's Day and enjoy the day with your family and/or friends!

Here's to a #SocialBlackout Mother's Day!
I'll be participating - will you?

  2. I've been minimizing my time online lately and it makes such a huge differences. Picture taking and instagramming would be the hardest to avoid.

  7. I'm in! I can definitely relate to sometimes feeling like I spend too much time thinking about what might be great for the blog or catching a great moment and remembering it for later for sharing. Not that I spend as much time as some might, but still - my family needs me. And since it looks as if I will have sick kids for mothers day and we won't be making it to church, that means we will be home to spend time together and I am sure they will enjoy the time spent having fun.

  8. Here I am reading this on Mother's Day, but only because I am taking a few moments for myself while my kids are napping. I agree with you, great post!
